Job summary

Hawaii Petroleum is seeking a Fuel Driver in Kona to safely transport petroleum products to customer facilities across the island. You will operate a tanker truck, manage delivery records, and coordinate with customers to ensure on‑time service.

A strong safety mindset and ability to work independently are essential. Eligible candidates have a CDL Class A with HazMat and Tank endorsements, TWIC and a valid PUC physical, plus willingness to work flexible hours including weekends.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CDL Class A with HazMat, Tank, and Doubles/Triples endorsements required.
• TWIC card and PUC physical required at hire.
• Experience with DOT regulations and safe fuel handling preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and transport liquid petroleum products to customer facilities in a safe and timely manner.
• Operate a Tanker Truck with PTO‑driven pumps and ensure safe hauling of trailers in compliance with OSHA, DOT, Hazmat, and local regulations.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries and monitor fuel levels; follow schedules and report issues.
• Communicate with customers professionally and collaborate to improve route efficiency and relationships.
• Perform daily vehicle and fueling equipment maintenance checks.

As a Fuel Truck Driver, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transportation and delivery of petroleum products to various locations around the Island. What You Will Do

• Deliver and transport liquid petroleum products to customer facilities in a safe and timely manner.
• Operate a Tanker Truck with PTO-driven pumps and ensure the safe hauling of trailers containing company product in accordance with OSHA, DOT and Hazmat as well as Local, State and Federal requirements.
• Ensure accurate records of deliveries, monitor fuel levels, adhere to delivery schedules and report any issues that arise during shift.
• Communicate optimally with customers, handle inquiries and complaints professionally, and collaborate with leadership to maintain and improve route efficiency and customer relationships.
• Conduct daily routine maintenance checks on the vehicle and fueling equipment for optimum upkeep and performance.
• Complete ongoing company‑related training, reviews, compliance, and document requirements.
• Stay current with licenses, certifications, physicals, background checks and other requirements needed for this position and participate in the Company’s drug testing program.
• Follow all Company’s rules of conduct, policies and procedures and comply with Federal, State, and Local safety, health and environmental regulations.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education, Experience and Requirements

• Seeking Candidates 21 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Possess a current and valid CDL (Class A) Driver’s license with HazMat, Tank, Doubles/Triples endorsements, TWIC card, driver history record and PUC physical card at time of hire.
• Previous Commercial Driving and Fuel handling experience preferred with knowledge of DOT regulations related to delivery and safety.
• Work independently and have physical stamina to handle long hours with extended periods of sitting while driving.
• Ability to lift and move heavy loads up to 40 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times, climb ladders and perform other physical tasks in various weather conditions.
• Operate work related technology including company issued computers, tablets and/or a Smart Phone with a basic understanding of Microsoft Office 365 email and applications.
• Must be open to a flexible work schedule including weekends, morning and afternoon delivery route times.
