Job summary

Par Pacific is hiring a Fuel Truck Driver on Hawaii Island (Kawaihae) to deliver petroleum products to retail sites and commercial customers, following DOT safety guidelines. You will report to the Trucking Supervisor and play a key role in reliable service for island communities.

The ideal candidate has a CDL A with Hazmat endorsements, 3+ years of Type A driving, manual transmission experience, and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

  • Must have high school diploma or GED.
  • CDL Type A with Hazmat and TX endorsements.
  • At least three years of experience as professional truck driver in a Type A Vehicle.
  • At least three years of experience driving a manual transmission.
  • Petroleum or transporting liquids experience preferred.
  • A clean driving abstract for the last five years.
  • General mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Must be available to work overtime and DOT Hours of Service.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
  • Good communication skills, deadlines, organizational ability and problem solving.
  • Ability to work in difficult conditions and emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver petroleum products to company retail sites or commercial customers.
  • Perform pre-delivery trip checks per DOT safety specifications.
  • Connect hose to tank, read gauges, record deliveries, and leave tickets.
  • Complete post-trip inspections and regulatory paperwork.
  • Maintain good customer service and rapport with customers.
  • Keep work areas and equipment clean and orderly.
  • Follow safety rules for ships, loading docks, and other sites.
  • Perform minor vehicle maintenance as needed.

The Opportunity
  • Fuel Truck Driver (Hawaii Island- Kawaihae) at a growth-oriented energy company

  • Perform tank truck and trailer driver duties by delivering petroleum products to company retail sites or commercial customers while following specific policies and procedures from written or verbal instructions.
  • Reporting to the Trucking Supervisor, you will play an important role in providing dependable service to our customers and advancing the Company's mission of "Humbly Serving Communities,"
Key activities include:
  • Receives delivery orders from the truck dispatcher, organizes delivery route to include all preparations for delivery and calls dispatcher or leaves message on recorder after each delivery.
  • Following the Department of Transportation safety specifications performs pre-delivery trip check on tank truck and fuels, inspects truck for general operating requirements, and ascertains that all required equipment is available and in good operating condition.
  • Drives a tank truck & trailer or trailer to customer's location, connects hose to tank and opens valves, read gauges, record amounts delivered and leaves delivery ticket receipt with customer. Load truck and/or trailers at designated facilities following all rules and regulations for each facility.
  • Returns to the terminal at the end of the workday and completes post trip truck inspection to determine if repairs are necessary. Accurately completes all regulatory and customary paperwork.
  • Establishes/maintains good customer service and rapport while handling customer questions or schedules. Calls customers before loading/leaving load rack to ensure the customer is able to receive the load. Answer inquiries as appropriate and/or refer customers to the trucking supervisor for assistance.
  • Maintains assigned work areas, tank truck vehicles and/or their equipment in a clean and orderly manner performing housekeeping chores as required and/or directed.
  • Follows, maintains and adheres to all safety rules and regulations for ships, loading docks, customer premises, traffic laws, rules and DOT regulations. Follows all environmental procedures and reports all safety and environmental incidents and concerns immediately to the supervisor.
  • Performs minor work on vehicles as needed, i.e. change light bulbs, replace discharge valves, hose ears, etc.

Qualifications

To meet the basic qualifications for employment, you will have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship. To comply with the regulations at this work location, successful applicants must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential). Additional qualifications include:

  • Must possess a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Type A with Hazmat and TX endorsements.
  • At least three years of experience as professional truck driver in a Type A Vehicle.
  • At least three years of experience driving a manual transmission (on either a CDL A or B vehicle).
  • Petroleum or transporting liquids experience preferred.
  • A clean driving abstract for the last five years.
  • General mechanical knowledge and skills.
  • Working knowledge of math is required. Must be able to perform routine mathematical calculations.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed and be able to commit to DOT "Hours of Service" with Par Hawaii.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 60 pounds.
  • Good communication skills, ability to work with deadlines, organizational ability and problem solving.
  • Ability to work in difficult conditions and with situations that involve customers, operations and emergencies.

Hiring Range:

The hiring range for this position is $40 to $42, plus non-discretionary bonus.The candidate selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
