Job summary

Valor Compounding Pharmacy, located in Berkeley, CA, is hiring a Shipping Specialist to join the Customer Care team. The role handles packaging compounded medications for FedEx shipping, assists patients and providers, and supports internal teams with inquiries and updates.

Working Monday–Friday 8:30am–5pm, you will ensure accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and timely delivery while maintaining a high level of customer service and attention to detail in a fast-paced pharmacy environment.

  • Read, understand, and be compliant with HIPAA
  • Ability to work with technology including Propel, Zendesk, Guru, Outlook, Teams, and Tabz

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and package patient medications for shipment via FedEx.
  • Prepare patient medications for pick-up.
  • Custom package patient medications by client required branded materials and requirements.
  • Differentiate packaging between refrigerated and regular products.
  • Scan and communicate with patients via customer app with FedEx tracking number, as appropriate.
  • Monitor and follow-up on FedEx tracking of patient and facility shipments.
  • Manage and communicate all shipping-related updates, delays, and issues to patients.
  • Escalate shipping issues as needed.
  • Maintain and file packing lists.
  • Order and maintain packaging and supplies used for shipping.
  • Manage and communicate with clients on specific branded packaging inventory that's needed to replenish.
  • Assist departments such as marketing, customer service, data entry, and lab with small projects.
  • Cross-train in Customer Care functions and provide support as needed to meet business demands and ensure a seamless patient experience.
  • Maintain a clean working environment.
  • Participate in trainings as needed.
  • Any other duties necessary to ensure the functionality of the business

About the role

The Shipping Specialist is a key member of the Customer Care team, responsible for packaging compounded medications and shipping them via FedEx while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. In addition to shipping responsibilities, this role provides exceptional customer service by assisting patients, providers, and internal teams with shipping inquiries, delivery updates, order-related concerns, and other projects. This is a full-time position, working Monday through Friday 8:30am to 5pm and reporting to the Lead Shipping Specialist.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience and familiarity with FedEx
  • Pass drug screening test, background check, pre-employment verification process
  • Read, understand, and be compliant with HIPAA
  • Working Conditions: Standing, walking, sitting, reaching above shoulders, reaching waist level, reaching below knee, climbing, lifting above shoulder up to 20 lbs and lifting waist level up to 20 lbs. Occasional handling of 50 lbs ice pack boxes.
  • Ability to stay motivated with repetitive work
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines
  • Able to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, in the English language
  • Ability to work with technology including but not limited to Propel, Zendesk, Guru, Outlook, Teams, and Tabz
  • Ability to multi-task and work in fast-paced environment
  • Ability to problem solve effectively

Valor’s pay band range for this position is $22 to $26 per hour. This salary range may include multiple levels. Your level is based on our assessment of your interview performance and experience, which you can always ask the hiring manager about to understand in more detail. Salary is just one component of Valor’s total compensation package for employees.
