Job summary

Altus Technology Solutions is seeking a Shipfitter - Technician III to support the ITSIS program in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area. This role involves structural fabrication, layout, alignment, fit-up and installation aboard naval vessels in accordance with drawings and workmanship standards.

Candidates must have an active DoD Secret clearance and the required education/experience (associate, bachelor, or HS with years) and be able to read drawings and use fitting/measuring tools.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret security clearance.
• Degree or training: associate, bachelor’s or HS/GED with required years.
• Experience: 6 years with associate; 4 with bachelor; 8 with HS/GED.
• Shipboard fabrication, layout, alignment, and fit-up experience.
• Ability to read structural drawings and use fitting/measuring tools.
• Live Fire Watch training and shipboard confined-space safety training.
• Welding qualification if welding is part of duties.

• Prepare materials and joints for fitting, fastening, and installation; coordinate with welding and other trades.

Shift: First or Second Shift; Monday-Friday, generally 40 hours per week

Salary Information: $58,240 - $68,640 per year

Hourly Rate: $28.00 - $33.00 per hour

Altus Technology Solutions is seeking a Shipfitter - Technician III to support the Integrated Total Shipboard Information System (ITSIS) program in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area.

This role supports structural fabrication, layout, alignment, fit-up and installation activities aboard naval vessels in accordance with approved drawings and workmanship requirements.

Primary Responsibilities:

Fit, align, position, and assemble structural components and fabricated assemblies.

Interpret structural drawings, fabrication layouts, SIDs, and dimensioned instructions.

Prepare materials and joints for fitting, fastening, and installation; coordinate with welding and other trades.

Perform dimensional checks and adhere to applicable workmanship and safety standards.

Qualifications

Required:

Active DoD Secret security clearance.

Associate’s degree in an electrical, electronic, or mechanical specialization (or equivalent military technical school) plus 6 years of relevant experience; relevant bachelor’s degree plus 4 years; or high school diploma/GED plus 8 years.

Experience with shipboard structural fabrication, layout, alignment, joint preparation, and fit-up.

Ability to read structural drawings and use fitting and measuring tools.

Current documented live Fire Watch Procedures training.

Documented shipboard confined-space entry safety training.

Applicable welding performance qualification where welding is part of assigned duties.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current OSHA 10-Hour Maritime Safety certification.

Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
