Job summary

Altus Technology Solutions is seeking a Mechanic - Technician III to support the Integrated Total Shipboard Information System (ITSIS) program in the Hampton Roads, Virginia area.

This role supports shipboard mechanical equipment maintenance, installation, removal, overhaul, assembly and repair, following applicable technical drawings and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret security clearance required.
• 6 years of relevant experience with an associate’s degree; 4 years with a bachelor’s; or 8 years with a HS/GED.
• Experience with shipboard mechanical maintenance, installation, or overhaul.
• Ability to read structural drawings and use mechanical tools safely.
• Live Fire Watch procedures training and confined-space entry safety training.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds, climb ladders, and work in restricted spaces.

Responsibilities

• Install, remove, maintain, repair, assemble, and disassemble shipboard machinery and components.
• Read and interpret Ship Installation Drawings and technical work instructions.
• Use mechanical tools, measuring instruments, and repair equipment safely.
• Coordinate with other shipboard trades and follow safety and quality procedures.

Education

Associate’s degree in electrical/electronic/mechanical specialization

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field

High school diploma/GED with equivalent experience

Salary Information: $56,160 - $66,560 per year

Hourly Rate: $27.00 - $32.00 per hour

Primary Responsibilities:

• Install, remove, maintain, repair, assemble, and disassemble shipboard machinery and associated components.
• Read and interpret Ship Installation Drawings, structural drawings, and technical work instructions.
• Use mechanical tools, measuring instruments, and repair equipment safely.
• Coordinate with other shipboard trades and follow safety and quality procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Active DoD Secret security clearance.
• Associate’s degree in an electrical, electronic, or mechanical specialization (or equivalent military technical school) plus 6 years of relevant experience; relevant bachelor’s degree plus 4 years; or high school diploma/GED plus 8 years.
• Relevant shipboard mechanical maintenance, installation, or overhaul experience.
• Ability to read structural drawings and use mechanical tools safely.
• Current documented live Fire Watch Procedures training.
• Documented shipboard confined-space entry safety training.
• Ability to lift, carry, or transport equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, climb shipboard ladders, and work in restricted spaces, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Current OSHA 10-Hour Maritime Safety certification.
• Current First Aid, CPR, and AED certification.
