Are you seeking a rewarding career with a company that supports those who protect us? BAE Systems may be the answer to your search. We are currently hiring a Shipfitter/Fabrication Craft Supervisor to support our 1st and 2nd shifts.

Primary Duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Supervising manpower and materials to meet schedule milestones.
  2. Reviewing project schedules and budgets during ship availabilities.
  3. Controlling labor and materials.
  4. Ensuring completion of assigned work on schedule and within budget.
  5. Participating in planning, directing personnel, and assigning work.
  6. Ensuring personnel skills meet job requirements.
  7. Performing ship checks and estimating work as needed.
  8. Complying with all company policies and procedures.
  9. Other duties as assigned by the Craft Manager.

The Shipfitter/Welder Craft Department Supervisor is responsible for overseeing trade personnel, leading the department to complete work on time and within budget, coordinating with other craft supervision, and managing staff development.

The selected candidate will be required to work 1st shift.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • 8+ years with high school diploma
  • 8+ years with associate degree
  • 4+ years with bachelor’s degree
  • Equivalent experience, training, or certifications may substitute degrees
  • At least 8 years in shipyard trade or fabrication experience
  • Previous leadership experience
  • Thorough knowledge of ship fitting, welding, and blueprint reading
  • Understanding of NAVSEA specifications, MIL STD 1688, 1689, USCG, ABS, and other guidelines
  • Ability to interpret technical and business documents
  • Effective communication skills
  • Problem-solving abilities in variable situations
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Physical and medical ability to wear PPE
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to obtain and maintain access to Naval Station Mayport
  • Respond positively in normal and emergency situations
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards
  • Assist in workflow planning and strategy
  • Identify, evaluate, and train craft employees
  • Manage machinery and equipment maintenance and inspections
  • Supervise activities ensuring compliance with procedures and standards
  • Must obtain and maintain
