Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat is seeking an entry level to skilled Shipfitter for the US-RI North Kingstown site. The role involves layout, fabrication and installation of ship structures at the Quonset Point facility, with opportunities to grow and develop welding and fabrication skills in a world-class submarine program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent or 2+ years of related technical experience.
• Available to work all shifts.
• Ability to work at heights, confined spaces and extreme temperature conditions as required.
• Own basic hand tools.
• Ability to read technical manuals, shipyard procedures, test documents and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Layout, fabrication, assembly, and installation of foundations, structures, bulkheads, frames, components and deck packages.
• Develop working knowledge of structural weld joint fit-up/weld symbols, burning and grinding operations.
• Align parts using jacks, clips and wedges per blueprints and templates.
• Tack-weld structural parts as required.
• Utilize hands and power tools in the steel fabrication trade.
• Read and interpret policies, procedures and guidelines from drawings and manuals.
• Basic mathematical ability.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
