Shipbuilding Supervisor & Training Lead

Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced supervisor to lead a skilled trades team in our shipbuilding environment. You will supervise, assign and evaluate personnel, coordinate training, and translate broad strategies into concrete action plans to improve quality and productivity.

You will ensure compliance with drawings and procedures, manage budgets and multi-shift operations, and contribute to the Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001. Internal candidates are welcome.

Qualifications

• BS/Apprentice; OR high school and 4 years combined manufacturing, shipbuilding, trades, military experience
• Must be willing and able to work any assigned shift
• Internal candidates must have a superior attendance and disciplinary record
• Internal candidates cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences in the last 180 days
• Internal candidates cannot have any safety DANS resulting in a disciplinary layoff in the last 180 days
• Internal candidates cannot have more than 2 total DANS in the last 180 days, excluding lost tool
• Commitment to quality
• Experience as a workleaderman and/or performing Supervisor Re-Rate duties is nice to have
• Ability to supervise, motivate and train employees
• Communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
• Superior work attendance

Responsibilities

• Supervise, assign, coordinate and evaluate semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel
• Supervise and train employees to improve work quality and quantity
• Recommend training to enhance employee skill and productivity
• Assist in developing training procedures
• Break broad strategies down into practical action plans
• Ensure employees are trained to execute action plans
• Ensure adherence to technical job requirements, drawings and procedures
• Oversee manufacturing, installation, operation, testing and process operations with significant financial impact
• Supervise qualified trades staff across all shifts
• Monitor job and budget performance for all shifts
• Perform additional management responsibilities under Shipbuilding Management Charter 0001
