Prism Maritime, LLC seeks a Welder II/III to join our Chesapeake, VA shipboard fabrication team. You will study blueprints, set up welds, and perform MIG/TIG and brazing on ship components, with focus on quality and safety. Candidates should have an HS diploma or GED, an apprenticeship or trade-school background, and fire-watch certification. Overtime and travel may be required, and U.S.

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED may be required depending on varying contract stipulations.
  • Two years apprenticeship, or trade school with three years, or four years related experience.
  • Certificate documentation required for listed education.
  • Fire watch certification.

Responsibilities

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
  • Welds foundations, brackets, studs, platforms, piping, and other items to support on-site installations.
  • Maintains cleanliness of the work area.
  • May provide training / oversight of junior personnel.
  • Overtime is routinely required and travel outside the local area may be required.
