Job summary

Newport News Shipbuilding seeks a Test Engineer to synthesize customer requirements into system test solutions, developing and directing comprehensive test plans for complex submarine systems.

The role involves coordinating testing activities, reviewing requirements, and conducting system-level evaluations while maintaining configuration control and collaborating with engineering, production, and vendors.

Qualifications

• ABET Bachelor's Degree or Master’s Degree admission and 2 years of exempt experience (or PDP/NNS apprentice certificate)
• Master’s Degree in engineering tech, mechanical systems, marine engineering, or related field is preferred
• Professional development path may meet qualifications for the role

Responsibilities

• Synthesize customer needs into system test solutions considering technical, schedule and cost constraints.
• Develop and direct comprehensive test plans, procedures and schedules for system testing.
• Coordinate integrated testing activities and review test requirements for completeness.
• Perform technical analysis and system level evaluations and document results.
• Lead testing activities on Virginia Class Submarines and maintain configuration control during test evolutions.
