Job summary

Huntington Ingalls Industries, Mission Technologies Elevator Support Unit (ESU) in Chesapeake, VA, seeks a Manager Production Planning Scheduler to oversee HM&E projects and shipboard alterations.

The role coordinates plans, schedules, and performance across multiple work packages, with travel to shipyards and bases as needed; travel expenses are covered and per diem provided. This is a full-time position requiring strong communication and technical reading skills, with clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

  • 4 years relevant progressive experience with Bachelor’s in related field; 2 years with Masters or 8 years with HS diploma.
  • Must have shipboard maintenance and repair experience.
  • Must be able to read and interpret equipment and systems, ship drawings and ship technical documents and manuals.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repairing Advanced Weapons Elevators and electrical cabinets associated Equipment.
  • Experience with all AWE actuators and associated Equipment. Experience coordinating and supervising personnel on shipboard repairs (Aircraft Elevator, Advanced Weapons Elevator, Stores Elevator Mechanical & Electrical).
  • Experience closely involved with aircraft carriers, maintenance availability, procedures, work integration administration and maintenance scheduling.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with senior Ship’s Force and government personnel.
  • Must be able to assess and proactively address potential production and schedule issues.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD secret security clearance.
  • Must possess in-depth knowledge of engineering drawings/data reading (MIL-STD-1000) and logistic evaluation of equipment/material in drawings.
  • Must be computer literate with the ability to operate a computer terminal manipulating data.
  • Must have Aircraft Elevator/Deck Edge Doors/Hangar Bay Division Doors, and Advanced Weapons Elevator experience.
  • Knowledge of capturing OQE/TWD/CTWD’s/WAFs.
  • Knowledge of Alteration Installation Teams/Customer Contracted Team procedures and practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the operational aspects of ongoing projects and coordinate tasks to meet production standards and schedules.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customer representatives and subcontractors for continued business growth.
  • Assess project issues and develop resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals.
  • Develop and use technical documents including work packages, procedures, test documents, and reports.
  • Direct supervision of staff and provide objective-driven directions to subordinates.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Apply understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments.
  • Interface with customers and manage subcontractors, providing work directions and leadership.
  • Perform a variety of non-routine tasks to complete installations or work assignments.
  • Schedule, report and brief customers and senior management.
