Job summary

Job description

Role Overview

Principal Electrical Engineer – Power System Technical Lead for Navy shipboard applications, located in Marlborough, MA. The role requires an active U.S. Secret clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Responsibilities
  • Direct a varied team of engineers to develop technical solutions based on system performance and operational specifications.
  • Design, analyze, simulate, test, and document power conversion systems.
  • Resolve production, technical, and installation issues related to existing Raytheon or subcontractor product designs; travel to shipyards may be required.
  • Perform design work within schedule and cost boundaries.
  • Present technical reviews to program leadership, technical staff, and customer community; manage related risk discussions.
  • Lead small teams to success with schedule, budget, and technical execution.
  • Engage in personal technical growth and facilitate growth in peers and junior engineers.
  • Travel to Tewksbury, MA; Marlborough, MA; Andover, MA; Woburn, MA as required.
  • Work 100% on‑site during the 1st shift.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics and at least 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum 8 years in power system design, power conversion, power distribution, power sub‑system design, and/or control systems.
  • Experience with Naval Shipboard Electrical Standards (MIL‑STD‑1399, MIL‑STD‑917, MIL‑STD‑461).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading teams within the Naval Shipboard Power business sector.
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Hardware development experience in a DoD environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead/manage a technical team.
  • Experience generating technical documentation and reports.
  • Knowledge of test and production methods for electronics/power system components.
  • Experience interfacing with procurement and manufacturing, as well as external suppliers.
  • Experience managing technical, cost, and schedule risks and opportunities.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Earned Value or Agile Execution.
  • Proposal development experience.
  • Experience interfacing with DoD customer community.
  • Existing security clearance.
