Job summary

Austal USA in Mobile, AL is seeking a B Class Pipe Fitter to join a team delivering shipboard piping systems. You will read drawings, interpret specs, cut and assemble pipe, and test for leaks while maintaining safety and quality.

The role requires at least HS diploma or GED or maritime experience, and passing the B Class pipe fitter tests. You will work with limited supervision, support a productive team, and help deliver vessels on schedule.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED OR 2 years maritime experience.
• Pass the "B" Class pipe fitter tests, written and practical.
• Experience reading drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Knowledge of ship terminology and ability to interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications.
• Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines.
• Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools.
• Test system for leaks using testing equipment.
• Install clamps, brackets and hangers to support piping system using hand and power tools.
• Install pipe systems on board vessels in a safe and productive manner.
• Follow OSHA requirements.
• Ensure work procedures adhered to and deliver vessel on time.
