Job summary

Life Cycle Engineering is seeking an Outside Machinist to provide maintenance, repair and technical support to customers and shipboard machinery systems at SWRMC. The role requires hands-on mechanical repairs on Navy vessels, precise alignment, and testing of critical components.

The successful candidate will use precision tools and follow safety protocols, with at least four years of Navy ship experience and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Valid Drivers License.
• Minimum 4 years work experience on Navy ships.
• Ability to utilize standard mechanic's tools, torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators and other precision measuring instruments, fixtures, portable machine tools, and various gauges in the removal, repair, overhaul, assembly, installation and testing of equipment, subassemblies, and components.
• Ability to disassemble, clean, inspect, and assess equipment parts and components to determine the extent of wear and damage in justification of recommendations for reuse or disposal of assemblies and components.
• Ability to identify materials and parts requiring replacement on equipment, components and subassemblies being worked on. Provide materials and parts replacement recommendations to the Government.

Responsibilities

• Accomplish mechanical repairs and testing onboard ships and in the shop.
• Work includes removal, repairs, overhaul, installation, alignment, troubleshooting, modifying, and testing on ship's mechanical systems and components.
• Maintain and service ATGs, boat davit equipment, hydraulic and pneumatic pumps, capstans, winches, steering pumps, and other shipboard machinery as described.
