Job summary

Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is seeking an Entry-Level Shipboard IT (SBIT) Specialist in Monroeville, PA. The role focuses on developing, deploying, and supporting LANs and shipboard NNPP systems, with emphasis on project management and cybersecurity analysis.

Responsibilities include designing, documenting, and testing IT components, participating in reviews, and delivering end-user training, while collaborating with engineers and suppliers to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or related degree.
• Eight (8) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may satisfy requirements.
• Requires security clearance; all qualified candidates considered regardless of current clearance.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred for recent graduates.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and business applications.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Proven ability to build positive working relationships and adapt to changing requirements.
• Foundational knowledge in network administration, virtualization, cybersecurity, or dev tools (Azure DevOps, Jira/Confluence).

Responsibilities

• Budgeting, planning, designing, analyzing, documenting, and testing computer and electrical components and systems.
• Initiate and perform IT projects addressing obsolescence and cybersecurity under supervision.
• Review supplier designs and documents; support technical reports and supplier performance measures.
• Provide fleet support and assist in fielding activities for shipboard systems.
• Collaborate with engineers to ensure proper integration of components and software versions.
• Participate in design reviews, testing procedures, and logistics support.
• Develop and maintain detailed documentation including diagrams, specs, processes, and configuration records.
• Contribute to sustainment and development tasks for improvements and modernization.
• Prepare technical correspondence for Government review and funding requests.
• Assist in end-user training and implement engineering policies and procedures.
