Job summary

Prism Maritime, LLC in Coronado, CA is seeking a Fire Safety Specialist/Engineer I to serve as Damage Control SME, conducting shipboard assessments, policy reviews, and training for shipboard Fire Marshals and Emergency Teams.

The role requires five years of experience aboard ship in Damage Control, with deep knowledge of shipboard firefighting systems and CNSP procedures; some travel may be required and a valid U.S. passport is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience working aboard ship in Damage Control.
• Extensive knowledge and skills in Damage Control across all classes of surface combatants.
• Thorough knowledge of damage control installed and portable system performance, operation, and technical specifications per NSTM and applicable technical publications.
• Working knowledge of major equipment/systems aboard naval ships, including operational and/or repair experience.
• Experience in damage control equipment, procedures, requirements and installation; ability to use judgment and adapt guidelines as appropriate.
• Knowledge of JFMM, NSTM, technical publications, INSURV policies and procedures, NAVSEA instructions, and Naval Surface Force directives.

Responsibilities

• Lead inspector and subject matter expert for policy and technical issues for shipboard firefighting.
• Plan all aspects of a Damage Control Fire Safety inspection aboard all surface combatant platforms.
• Provide technical guidance to Force Damage Control Officer, Program Managers and surface ships in compliance with CNSP instructions and policy.
• Monitor readiness and material condition of firefighting equipment on CNSP ships.
• Maintain liaison with NAVSEA and other CNSP directorates regarding major industrial availabilities.
