Job summary

Seaward Services in the United States Navy context seeks a Ship's Communications Officer (SCO) to operate and troubleshoot C5I systems aboard TSV-3 NARRAGANSETT and TSV-4 VINDICATOR, supervise watch-standers, and manage network administration and COMSEC compliance.

The role requires STCW Basic Training, TOP SECRET clearance, and strong electronics, networking, and diagnostic skills. Applicants should be prepared for rigorous safety protocols and shipboard duties.

Qualifications

• U.S. Coast Guard license/certificate: STCW Basic Training; VPDSD.
• Thorough knowledge of electronic theory and competence to inspect, evaluate performance, troubleshoot, and maintain shipboard communications systems.
• Fully proficient with operating radio cryptographic equipment.
• Fully proficient in naval network management.
• Skilled in interpreting electronics manuals, drawings, specs, and schematics.
• Proficient in diagnostic programs and test equipment.
• Must have six months shipboard experience as 1st Radio Electronics Technician or equivalent.
• Security+ and EKMS Local Element training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise watch standing personnel.
• Serve as ship's network administrator.
• Coordinate planned maintenance schedules for maximum readiness.
• Provide technical assistance and training.
• Maintain technical publications and files.
• Ensure COMSEC procedures and EKMS compliance.
• Manage information systems and satellite communications.
• Advise the Master on equipment capabilities and limits.
• Perform shipboard emergency drills and safety checks.
• Possibly work aloft/over side to inspect equipment.
