Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. seeks a physician to join our onboard medical team, delivering comprehensive care to crew members and, when required, passengers. You will work with the ship's chief doctor and supervise nurses, providing both routine and emergency medical services at sea.

Responsibilities include wound care, suturing, basic imaging and laboratory tasks, ACLS interventions, and coordination with shore-based specialists. Fluency in English is essential for communication aboard our vessels.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited medical school.
• 2–3 years of postgraduate/post-registration clinical training.
• Board certification in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice, or Internal Medicine.
• ACLS Provider certification (or equivalent) required unless Board Certified in EM.
• ATLS and PALS are helpful but not mandatory.
• Experience or willingness to learn basic laboratory and x-ray procedures.
• Current license with extensive experience in cardiac and primary care, trauma, internal, and emergency medicine.
• Excellent command of English (spoken and written).

Responsibilities

• Reports to the ship's chief doctor and supervises the ship's lead nurse, nurse practitioners and RNs.
• Responsible for basic and emergency medical treatment of crew members and, in some cases, passengers.
• Handles a wide range of medical conditions, including evaluation and treatment of medical, surgical, gynecological and pediatric issues.
• Performs suturing, incision and drainage of abscesses, and basic ophthalmologic emergency triage.
• Performs acute care procedures such as dislocations reduction, splinting and immobilization.
• Administers ACLS procedures and treatments and manages emergency airway situations.
• Coordinates care with shore-based medical teams when needed.

• Board certification or equivalent in Emergency Medicine, Family Practice or Internal Medicine.
• Current certification as an ACLS Provider (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or its equivalent, unless Board Certified in Emergency Medicine.
• ATLS (Trauma) Certificate and PALS (Paediatric) Certificate helpful, but not mandatory.
• Some experience or a willingness to learn simple laboratory and x-ray procedures.
• Current license, extensive experience with cardiac and primary care, trauma, internal, and emergency medicine.
• Excellent command of the English language required (both spoken and written).

The doctor/ physician reports to the ship's chief doctor and supervises the ship's lead nurse, nurse practitioners and registered nurses. The physician is responsible for the basic and emergency medical treatment of the crew members and in some cases of the passengers (when required). He/ she deals with wide range of medical conditions - evaluation and treatment of medical, surgical, gynaecological and paediatric problems; suturing of wounds; incision and drainage of abscesses; evaluation of ophthalmologic emergencies; reduction of simple dislocations, splinting and immobilization procedures; Advanced Cardiac Life Support procedures and treatments (ACLS) including emergency airway management; administration of thrombolytic agents.
