Ship Clerks play a crucial role in the Middle Mile network, responsible for managing department duties such as planning loads around departure times, load flow control, and trailer utilization. They assign job duties, provide work direction, and communicate with internal and external partners.

Ship Clerks execute standard work impacting Safety, Quality, Productivity, Utilization, and On-time Performance. Responsibilities include load planning, load flow control, load quality, communication with upstream and downstream partners, labor allocation, leading meetings, and escalating barriers to Operations Leaders.

Key Responsibilities

1. Correspond with multiple shipping companies and contacts.
2. Use shipping software to ship and track packages.
3. Coordinate trailers with dock doors and cross docks using SSP.
4. Troubleshoot shipping issues to resolution.
5. Maximize trailer utilization to control costs.
6. Ensure on-time dock performance.
7. Update Staging POD 5s and resource allocation.
8. Oversee Load Flow Control.
9. Maintain load performance tracking.
10. Coordinate with Transportation teams on driver issues, trailer needs, yard delays, inbound volume, and load swaps.
11. Understand shipping requirements, rules, and obligations.
12. Ensure safety measures are in place and followed.
13. Assist in training associates and verifying SOP compliance.
14. Track and report associate performance.
15. Participate in Operational Excellence initiatives.
16. Support production duties as needed.
17. Understand workflow and production goals.
18. Review and update SOPs.
19. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
20. Identify and address safety hazards.
21. Participate in safety initiatives.
22. Report injuries or safety violations immediately.

Basic Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience with Microsoft Office applications.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 49 pounds, stand/walk for up to 12 hours, and perform physical tasks.
• Work 40 hours/week, with overtime as required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Training, teaching, or presentation experience.
• Willingness to work different shifts and areas.
• Excellent attendance and organizational skills.
