Shift Team Lead, Maintenance - 2nd Shift

Job summary

Working with Maintenance Staff and Mechanics, assist, plan, and engage in daily production, manufacturing and facilities equipment set‑up, operations, preventive maintenance, and repairs. Anticipate production and manufacturing equipment problems (e.g., material shortages, equipment malfunctions, changeovers) such that loss of work hours is minimized and Production, Manufacturing, Facilities, and Quality objectives are achieved.

What you will do
  • Assign and coordinate specific work assignments and activities by determining team members’ skills, work‑force hours, recommending overtime, purchasing materials, controlling costs, and workflow to achieve production, maintenance, facilities, and quality objectives; exchange timely information with maintenance staff on interdepartmental work‑force and equipment needs.
  • Evaluate, instruct, train, motivate, and assist team members to ensure safety, quality, production, maintenance, and facilities objectives are achieved.
  • Assist Maintenance Manager in the selection and interview process to fill worker positions.
  • Ensure all work is performed and completed according to standard operating procedures, job instructions, Shiseido safety/OHSA, and quality guidelines.
  • Assist Maintenance staff in the implementation of all Shiseido safety policies and procedures, including housekeeping practices, workplace inspections, awareness of hazardous conditions, and respond to employee injuries.
  • Assist Maintenance staff in investigating accident causes and recommend a solution to prevent accident reoccurrence.
  • Work with Maintenance Staff to reduce equipment costs, recommend improvements in equipment repair processes and operation.
  • Maintain professionalism by staying abreast of new developments through publications, vendors and in‑house management training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Who you are
  • Have 7+ years of mechanical experience in a GMP environment (cosmetic, personal care, pharmaceutical, food industry, or related consumer goods).
  • Can work with little supervision and ensure high quality, craftsmanship work.
  • Have experience in lean manufacturing (preferred).
  • Can effectively manage time including work schedules, events, programs, and other activities.
  • Can plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specifications and local codes.
  • Can inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Can operate shop equipment including lathes, presses and bandsaws.
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to production/manufacturing equipment.
  • Can troubleshoot and make programming changes in programmable logic control (PLC) systems (preferred).
  • Can redesign the functionality of existing equipment.
  • Have skills and experience to operate and maintain filling, packaging, labeling, product handling and facilities equipment.
  • Can communicate information and ideas effectively.
  • Have accomplished skills in troubleshooting and repairs to pneumatics, hydraulics, air handling systems and/or associated controls.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing technical publications, and establishing personal networks.
  • Are developing and practicing leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Can communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
