Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position that prepares an employee for higher-level supervisory roles, such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs work as directed to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities, completes basic operations and management skills training, and learns about key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are eligible for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor positions. These leadership roles support the CVS Store Management team by driving store execution and performance while building customer loyalty through excellent service. When no manager is onsite, the Operations or Shift Supervisor leads the store staff, ensures smooth operations, and oversees opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions
  • Utilize deductive reasoning, analytical skills, and computer skills.
  • Demonstrate advanced communication skills.
  • Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Management Responsibilities
  • Work effectively with store management and staff.
  • Supervise store activities by assigning, directing, and following up.
  • Communicate effectively with management and staff.
Customer Service Responsibilities
  • Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints.
  • Promote CVS customer service culture (greeting, offering help, thanking).
  • Handle customer relations issues per company policy to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Maintain customer/patient confidentiality.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications: Deductive reasoning, analytical skills, computer skills, and effective communication.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in retail.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Work Hours & Compensation

Anticipated weekly hours: 20

Part-time position

Pay Range: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and location.
