Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position that prepares employees for higher supervisory roles, such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs assigned work to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities, completes basic operations and management skills training, and learns about key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful training completion, trainees are eligible for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor roles. These leadership roles support the store management team in driving store execution and performance while focusing on excellent customer service. When no manager is onsite, the Operations or Shift Supervisor leads the store staff, ensures store operations run smoothly, and oversees opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions

• Apply deductive reasoning, analytical skills, and computer skills.
• Demonstrate advanced communication skills.
• Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Management

• Work effectively with store management and staff.
• Supervise store crew by assigning, directing, and following up on activities.
• Communicate effectively with management and staff.

Customer Service

• Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints.
• Promote CVS’s customer service culture (greet, help, thank).
• Handle customer relations issues per company policy and foster a positive shopping experience.
• Maintain customer confidentiality.

Qualifications

Experience in retail is preferred but not required.

High School Diploma or Equivalent is preferred but not required.

Anticipated weekly hours: 24

Part-time position

Pay range: $16.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and location.
