Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position that prepares an employee to perform a higher-level supervisory role, such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs work as directed to prepare for future supervisory responsibilities, completes basic operations and management skills training, and learns about key aspects of the business (e.g., building customer loyalty through exceptional service) and CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are eligible for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor roles. These leadership positions support the CVS Store Management team in driving store execution and performance while building customer loyalty through excellent service. When no manager is onsite, the Operations or Shift Supervisor leads the store staff, ensures smooth operations, and completes all opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions

• Demonstrate deductive reasoning, analytical skills, and computer proficiency.
• Exhibit advanced communication skills.
• Work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Management

• Work effectively with store management and staff.
• Supervise store staff through assigning, directing, and follow-up activities.
• Communicate effectively with management and team members.

Customer Service

• Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints.
• Promote CVS’s customer service culture (greet, assist, thank).
• Handle customer relations issues per company policy to ensure positive shopping experiences.
• Maintain customer and patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in retail is a plus.

Anticipated weekly hours: 25

Time type: Part-time

Pay range: $16.00 - $23.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and location.
