Overview

Oversee the protection of the college community and the protectionof private and institutional property on the campus.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Supervise all public safety officers and personnel under theircommand ensuring all are present and accounted for. Conduct a rollcall at the beginning of each shift, and direct public safetyfunctions under their command. May serve as incident commander on acritical incident. Ability to send out emergency messages. Monitorthe activities and capabilities of their subordinates to ensurethey are executing their duties and functions in a satisfactorymanner that conforms to guidelines and directives in aprofessional, fair, and impartial manner. Evaluate subordinates andtake remedial action when necessary. (65%)
2. Supervise all Public Safety Officers assigned to specialdetails and college events. Ensure that all personnel report totheir post or detail and that all college policies are respected.(15%)
3. Maintain public safety related equipment during theirrespective shift to include inspecting equipment including patrolvehicle components as related to safe and reliable operation.(10%)
4. Supervise and direct the field training of all newly hiredpublic safety officers under their command. Review and submitdetailed, written progress reports to the FTO Coordinator.(5%)
5. Subject to the approval of a higher authority, schedule workassignments, vacations, days off, training, etc., for personnelassigned to their respective shifts. (5%)

MARGINAL DUTIES:

1. Perform all other duties as may be required.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from an accreditedinstitution required.
• Three to five years of police or security-related experience oran equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication experiencerequired.
• First aid and CPR certifications preferred.
• Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Suite(Word, Excel, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to operate avehicle and patrol campus
• Ability to multi-task and prioritize assignments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must successfully complete a background check, psychologicaltesting, and physical agility pre-employment testing.
• Availability to work all shifts
