CMC seeks skilled personnel to join its steel production team in a dynamic environment. You will help ensure steel is manufactured to exact specifications, while maintaining safety and efficiency on the shop floor.

The role involves operating melt shop equipment, monitoring performance, and collaborating with maintenance and operations staff. Applicants should have at least five years in a mill setting, strong computer skills, and experience with SAP/QMOS.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of mill experience.
• Proficient with SAP / QMOS data entry.
• Strong computer skills: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

Responsabilités

• Ensure all steel is manufactured to CMC specifications safely and on time.
• Visually inspect furnace for leaks, refractory wear and related issues.
• Adjust flux additions based on slag analysis to optimize slag chemistry.
• Operate melt shop equipment (caster, furnace, cranes, ladle furnace) and monitor performance.
• Communicate production issues and needs with team and supervisors.
• Troubleshoot production problems using knowledge and cross‑team collaboration.
• Replenish and manage consumables inventory on the operations floor.
• Support maintenance when requested and uphold safety programs.

What You’ll Do

• Work to ensure all steel is manufactured to CMC specifications and safely in a timely manner
• Visually inspect furnace for problems (water leaks, refractory wear, etc)
• To ensure slag foaming is appropriate
• Adjust flux additions based on slag analysis to optimize slag chemistry
• Work with personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all melt shop equipment (caster, furnace, cranes, ladle furnace, etc.)
• Communicate with fellow workers and supervisors about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
• Trouble shoots work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others (pulpit operator, process manager, maintenance personnel, etc)
• Responsible for controlling and replenishing the inventory of consumables needed on the operations floor
• Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
• Actively participate and assist in leading team with CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culture (Take 2, Observation Cards and Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)
• Promote safe work environments through example; good housekeeping & effective safety meetings
• Leading effective crew meetings at start of shift. Include any safety, quality or production communications applicable.
• Drive results with team members through accountability and performance feedback
• Foster positive employee relations in order to attract, develop and retain high performance teams—focused on employee engagement, leadership development, performance alignment to CMC objectives, and change management for accountability.

What You’ll Need

• Minimum 5 years of Mill Experience
• Strong computer skills required (good knowledge of Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
• Work which may include weekends and holidays
• Data entry in SAP / QMOS
• Ability to work with a budget for lowering cost (SAP)
• Must be able to schedule work through work orders and/or delegation
• Ability to work in extreme heat

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is required
