Job description

The Shift Supervisor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term position designed to prepare employees for higher supervisory roles such as Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor. The trainee performs assigned work to develop supervisory skills, completes basic management training, and learns about key aspects of the business, including building customer loyalty through exceptional service and understanding CVS/pharmacy culture.

Upon successful completion of the training program, trainees are eligible for promotion to open Operations Supervisor or Shift Supervisor positions. These roles support the store management team by driving store performance and fostering customer loyalty through excellent service. In the absence of a manager, the Operations or Shift Supervisor leads the store staff, ensures smooth operations, and oversees opening and closing procedures.

Essential Functions:
  1. Management
    • Work effectively with store management and staff
    • Supervise store crew by assigning, directing, and following up on activities
    • Communicate effectively with management and staff
  2. Customer Service
    • Assist customers with questions, problems, and complaints
    • Promote CVS customer service culture (greet, offer help, thank)
    • Handle customer relations issues per company policy, ensuring a positive shopping experience
    • Maintain customer confidentiality

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience in retail preferred
  • Deductive reasoning, analytical, and computer skills required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Flexible schedule including early mornings, overnights, weekends, and overtime as needed
