Job summary

CoreCivic seeks an Assistant Shift Supervisor to oversee security staff in a correctional/detention facility, supervising the shift and serving as acting Shift Supervisor when needed. Responsibilities include enforcing post orders, guiding staff on safety practices and coordinating with management and inmates.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, at least one year of corrections experience, and a valid driver’s license, with supervisory experience preferred and MS Office knowledge

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Three years of experience in a criminal justice field.
• One year of corrections experience.
• One year of supervisory experience preferred.
• No substitution for the required corrections experience.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Minimum age requirement: at least 18 years old.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise assigned security staff on the shift and evaluate performance.
• Guide staff on safety and security practices and post orders.
• Interpret, enforce and comply with rules, regulations, and contract requirements.
• Attend meetings to enhance communications between management, staff and inmates/residents.
• Assist in streamlining communications and maintaining consistency of operation between shifts.
