Job summary

CoreCivic in Colorado is seeking a Shift Supervisor to provide the highest quality care in an institutional, secure setting. The Shift Supervisor will oversee administrative and operational security activities on a specific shift and lead a team of security staff and inmates/residents.

This role requires strong leadership, staffing coordination, and adherence to correctional policies to ensure safety and efficient resource use across the shift.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Three years in a criminal justice field or related field, including two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Additional education may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
• Completion of basic pre-service correctional officer training and, where applicable, a state license.
• A valid driver''s license is required.
• Knowledge of correctional facility management, pertinent laws, rules and regulations, and supervision/training principles.
• Minimum age requirement: 18.

• Ensure adequate staffing and fill in during short periods of absence.

The Shift Supervisor provides responsible supervision of the administrative and operational security activities and staff on a specific shift in a facility.

• Directly supervise and manage operations of security staff and inmates/residents on the shift in the performance of their duties.
• Provide for adequate staffing in areas supervised; fill in as needed during periods of short staffing.
• Engage and participate in recruiting, hiring, orientating staff, and other staffing needs in areas supervised.
• Make recommendations concerning personnel matters and assist in the effective management of facility resources.
