Food Management Search seeks a Shift Supervisor for a large international chemical producer in Batavia, IL. The new 3rd shift operates 24/7, with roughly a dozen operators across several process areas; the supervisor covers floor work and schedules from the control room.

The role shapes shift routines, sets batch schedules, coordinates material inventory and tanker unloads, and documents batch traceability while upholding safety and housekeeping standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or related field, or 5+ years leading people in hands-on chemical processing.
• Continuous process chemical experience required; polymer, coatings, plastics, and extrusion backgrounds translate well.
• PSM exposure strongly preferred.
• Shift leadership experience in chemical/manufacturing, with autonomy on site.
• Background with automated process controls preferred.
• Comfortable splitting time between the floor and the desk.
• Steady work history showing growth inside past employers.

Responsibilities

• Direct a crew of roughly a dozen operators across several process areas.
• Get ahead of reaction issues and process deviations, and call when something goes sideways.
• Set batch schedules, verify raw material inventory, and coordinate inbound tanker unloads.
• Monitor process systems from the control room and enforce standards.
• Document each shift, including batch traceability and deviations.
• Plan manual work such as raw material loading, QC sampling, and end-of-run cleanout.
• Own safety, housekeeping, and operating standards for the shift.
