Job summary

Goodwill of Colorado is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead daily operations of the retail center, overseeing associates and ensuring safety, customer focus, and product flow. The role requires open availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, with shifts starting as early as 7 am and ending around 10 pm.

The candidate should have prior supervisory experience in retail or related industries and the ability to obtain necessary certifications (pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift).

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Two years retail supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to obtain forklift certification and operate related equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the retail center and lead associates.
  • Coach and guide staff, handle escalations and reviews as needed.
  • Assist opening/closing procedures and daily sales reporting process.
  • Ensure product flow, safety, and customer focus across the center.
  • Coordinate inventory activities and processing of e‑commerce items.

Pay - $21.31 per hour

This supervisory position is full-time and will require open availability (including evenings, weekends, and holidays). Shifts for this position could start as early as 7 am and go as late as 10 pm.

Goodwill of Colorado is seeking versatile and adaptable candidates with experience to become our Shift Supervisors. Previous supervisory experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, production, manufacturing or similar industries is preferred for this position. Please Note: Our Stores are open 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and 9 am to 8 pm Sunday.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Retail Center Shift Supervisor will be responsible for day-to-day, tactical, and practical leadership of associates and teams across the entire retail center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Generally responsible for monitoring the whole retail center and addressing immediate issues of safety, customer focus, product flow, and aesthetics either personally or through delegation.
Employee Leadership:
  • Redirects staff/work teams to address call-offs.
  • Coaches’ employees verbally and with initial write-ups.
  • Provides input to reviews and terminations.
Task/Functional Leadership:
  • Assists in opening and closing procedures
  • Responsible for the verification step related to the daily sales report paperwork.
  • Responsible for counting drawers.
  • Responsible for making change between drawers and the safe.
  • Assist with inventory process by counting, entering, and verifying.
Customer Focus:
  • Plan, coordinate, and control the activities of the customer service team to maintain and enhance customer relationships, meet organizational, and operational objectives.
  • First escalation point for customer complaints.
  • Point of contact for turning down donations at Attended Donation Centers (ADC).
Cross training:
  • Maintains knowledge of store procedures at the proficiency of a generalist with the ability to fill in for an emergency.
  • Ensure E-Commerce product is processed accurately and moving to E-Commerce efficiently.
  • Uses and becomes certified on pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift, hand dolly, or other equipment or tools to effectively move and store donated product.
  • Maintains knowledge to the level where operations can be maintained in rare cases where no Assistant Manager or Manager are able to be on premises.
  • Job duties may extend beyond the tasks listed and may include additional responsibilities as required.

Education:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Experience:
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Two (2) years’ retail experience is desired.
Other:
  • Familiar with product pricing, trends, fashions, and seasonal changes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and electronically with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • Able to obtain certification in all employee positions through completion of On the Job (OJT) documentation.
  • Able to obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification to safely operate equipment.
  • Able to quickly problem solve and make decisions.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and follow Goodwill’s policies and procedures.
  • Proficient in the utilization of office equipment, office software (i.e. Word, Excel) and web-based applications (i.e. UKG) to meet the needs of employees and the organization.
  • Ability to manage corporate email and calendar (i.e. Outlook).
  • Able to withstand prolonged standing, bending, and lifting up to 8 hours per day.
  • Able to work a varied schedule to include weekends, evenings, and holidays with occasional overtime as necessary.
