Job summary

Sonoco Products Company is seeking a Shift Supervisor for the Newport, TN area. You will lead safety initiatives and manufacturing best practices while coordinating shift production schedules to meet customer demands and control costs.

With 2+ years of supervisory experience and a preferred bachelor’s degree in business, science, or engineering, you will drive continuous improvement using lean techniques and mentor hourly staff on the shift.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree is preferred for candidates.
• At least 2+ years of supervisory experience required.
• Experience in manufacturing environments and safety practices is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Teach and lead the safety process and best manufacturing practices for assigned shift.
• Coordinate production scheduling on shift to meet customer demands, manage overtime, minimize inventory, and reduce costs.
• Direct shift in continuous improvement initiatives and work to meet performance metrics using tools such as SPS, 6 Sigma, Kaizen events and lean manufacturing.
• Provide direction, training, and development of hourly employees on assigned shift as well as counseling or discipline as needed.
