You will supervise Assembly personnel and partner with department supervisors to maintain effective communication and continuity with 1st shift leadership. The role requires a flexible schedule to cover shifts, leading safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement initiatives, including 6S practices to sustain an organized workplace.

Salary Range: $85,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

Summary:

The Off-shift Manufacturing Supervisor provides leadership and operational oversight for 2nd and 3rd shift manufacturing operations, serving as the primary leadership presence during off-shift hours. This position directly supervises 2nd and 3rd shift Assembly personnel and provides operational leadership and support to employees across other manufacturing departments in partnership with their department supervisors. The role requires schedule flexibility to maintain meaningful presence across both shifts while ensuring effective communication and continuity with 1st shift leadership.

  • Establish and maintain a flexible schedule that provides consistent leadership presence across both 2nd and 3rd shifts, with periodic overlap with 1st shift to attend leadership meetings, support communication, training, and business initiatives.
  • Provide direct leadership and supervision for 2nd and 3rd shift Assembly personnel, fostering a culture of accountability, engagement, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with associate supervisors and cross-functional manufacturing leaders to coordinate production priorities, communicate operational expectations, and ensure alignment across all shifts.
  • Conduct routine floor presence and employee check-ins to assess operational effectiveness, identify workforce needs, address concerns, and promote positive employee relations.
  • Recruit, train, coach, develop, and evaluate direct reports to support workforce capability, succession planning, and organizational objectives.
  • Monitor production performance, staffing levels, quality metrics, downtime, and operational results; identify barriers to performance and take appropriate corrective action to achieve production objectives.
  • Administer and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and employment practices, including attendance management, performance, and progressive discipline for direct reports.
  • Provide operational direction and leadership for all off-shift manufacturing personnel, including immediate response to production, staffing, safety, quality, employee relations, and operational issues, while partnering with department supervisors regarding ongoing performance and personnel matters.
  • Address employee concerns and workplace issues with professionalism and consistency, resolving matters whenever possible and escalating to the Performance Manager and Human Resources when appropriate.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, cost reduction, and waste elimination while promoting and facilitating 6S principles to maintain an organized, safe, and efficient work environment.
  • Conduct regular team meetings with both 2 nd and 3 rd shift teams to communicate departmental performance, safety initiatives, operational updates, company information, and other relevant business matters.
  • Assist in the development, administration, and monitoring of departmental budgets and resource planning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 requirements and all applicable quality management system standards.
  • Provide leadership and direction during emergency situations, ensuring established emergency response procedures and protocols are followed effectively.
  • Champion workplace safety by promoting safe work practices, maintaining a clean and organized work environment, investigating and reporting safety concerns, and ensuring compliance with all safety policies and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Five years of progressively responsible leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing operations, safety practices, production processes, and employee performance management.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making ability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing/business systems.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions during off-shift operations.
Education/Training:
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in manufacturing, engineering, business, operations management, or related discipline.
  • Lean manufacturing/continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems.
  • Previous experience supervising multi-shift operations.
Licensure/Certification:

Fork Truck License and first aid certification in CPR & AED are recommended.

Experience/Skills/Abilities:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role with proven leadership qualities, or relevant leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Excellent interpersonal communication skills to effectively interact with direct reports & associate members in a group or one-on-one setting. Ability to develop sufficient knowledge of departmental processes and work procedures to effectively coach, train, troubleshoot, and support employees. Good organizational, leadership and time management skills. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Self-motivated, capable of taking direction as well as working with little supervision while mentoring others.

Work Schedule/Hours:

The schedule for this position will vary based upon operational needs and is expected to provide meaningful leadership coverage across both 2nd and 3rd shifts. Periodic attendance during 1st shift hours may be required for meetings, training, business initiatives, and cross-shift coordination. This is a full-time salaried position. Overtime may be necessary. Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.
