Parc Center for Disabilities is the premier provider of life-changing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities in the Tampa Bay area. Our vision is a community where all individuals live with dignity and are treated with respect. Our shared purpose is to provide exceptional services to our participants each and every day.

Position Summary

The Shift Supervisor, under the direct supervision of the BMH Program Specialist, is responsible for overseeing Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) assigned to their floor during each shift. This role involves assigning DSPs to specific floor duties and resident appointments, ensuring consistent supervision, care, and support for individuals in alignment with their Active Treatment Plans. The Shift Supervisor provides hands‑on assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and ensures residents’ needs are met with dignity and respect.

In addition to monitoring the completion and accuracy of all required documentation, the Shift Supervisor collaborates with fellow supervisors to coordinate resident outings, medical appointments, and staffing coverage. The role also ensures clear, timely, and respectful communication with team members, parents, and guardians. When not functioning as the charge supervisor, the Shift Supervisor assumes the responsibilities of a DSP on the floor, actively participating in daily care and support of residents.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision, care, and assistance to residents throughout the shift, including bathing, dressing, toileting, repositioning, and dining. Support residents’ daily needs in alignment with their active treatment plans and contribute input for the development of individual program plans. Promptly report any behavioral or physical changes in residents to the Program Specialist, Program Services Manager, Nurse, Social Services, or Behavioral team.
  • Oversee and support DSPs on the assigned wing or floor through direct supervision, training, and redirection. Ensure the safety and well‑being of all residents and maintain effective two‑way communication. Monitor compliance with Parc Center for Disabilities and PCA policies and procedures, as well as ICF/DD regulations.
  • Ensure all required documentation is accurately and thoroughly completed, including incident reports, behavior data, ADL sheets, accountability logs, intake/output records, medical concern cards, mealtime concern cards, and skill acquisition data. Take prompt, appropriate action to address and report any issues or hazards identified.
  • Monitor and maintain adequate household supplies, resident clothing, and medical/nursing items by communicating needs to the appropriate departments.
  • Assist in coordinating leisure outings and appointments by helping residents into vehicles, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and confirming the availability of employees and transportation. Monitor vehicle readiness, including ensuring full fuel tanks during hurricane season, collecting and reviewing trip sheets, and coordinating with transportation for vehicle replacements or additions as needed.
  • Assign and manage resident accountability, schedules, and breaks. Coordinate resident pick‑ups from day programs, schedule team members for repositioning, appointments, and other activities. Oversee the delivery and return of adaptive equipment and aprons and ensure they are cleaned and ready for next‑day use. Promote high‑quality care and resident safety through effective planning, supervision, and follow‑through.
  • Provide initial and ongoing training to support high‑quality program delivery and engagement.
  • Serve as a professional role model by fostering a collaborative team environment and maintaining a positive, respectful attitude toward families, guardians, and all others connected to Parc Center for Disabilities.
  • Attend all required training sessions and in‑services, demonstrating competencies as required.
  • Communicate resident and facility emergencies per the Shift Supervisor Manual. Conduct quarterly fire drills and ensure proper documentation is completed and submitted to the Program Support Tech.
  • When not assigned as the designated “charge” supervisor, fulfill duties as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) on the floor.
  • Other appropriate responsibilities as determined by management.
