A&K Railroad Materials in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Shift Supervisor to lead a 20+ person production team in a fast-paced, safety-conscious environment.

This bilingual English/Spanish leader will direct priorities, track performance, and collaborate with Maintenance, Quality, and Production to keep operations moving efficiently.

The ideal candidate has manufacturing supervisory experience, a high school diploma, and strong communication skills to coach staff and ensure safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise 20+ production employees with focus on safety, quality, productivity.
• Assign employees to work areas based on production needs.
• Monitor production workflow, staffing, and productivity during shift.
• Coach employees, provide feedback, address performance and conduct concerns.
• Communicate delays, equipment issues, shortages, and quality concerns to management.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Production and other departments to keep operations moving.
• Conduct or participate in shift meetings and maintain documentation.
• Ensure procedures, safety requirements, and PPE standards are followed.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a safe, professional production environment.

Are you an experienced manufacturing leader with strong bilingual communication skills? A&K Railroad Materials is looking for a Shift Supervisor with the leadership experience to oversee a team of 20+ production employees and keep a fast-paced manufacturing operation running safely, efficiently, and productively.

For more than 65 years, A&K Railroad Materials has been a trusted supplier of new and used railroad track materials across the United States. Our Kansas City facility manufactures specialized trackwork products supporting critical railroad infrastructure.

This is a true supervisory opportunity for a bilingual leader who has the experience to confidently direct employees, manage production priorities, address personnel concerns, and maintain high standards for safety and quality.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and supervise 20+ production employees while establishing clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and performance
• Assign employees to work areas and tasks based on production requirements, staffing, qualifications, and operational needs
• Monitor production, workflow, staffing, and productivity throughout the shift
• Coach employees, provide feedback, and address performance, attendance, and conduct concerns
• Communicate production delays, equipment issues, material shortages, and quality concerns to management
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Production, and other departments to keep operations moving
• Conduct or participate in shift meetings and maintain accurate production and employee documentation
• Ensure employees follow established procedures, safety requirements, and PPE standards
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and a safe, professional production environment

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

***Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are required. ***

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience in manufacturing, production, industrial, or a similar environment
• Experience leading and supervising a team of 20 or more employees
• Strong bilingual communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate expectations, provide direction, coach employees, and address workplace concerns
• Experience working in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Working knowledge of workplace safety practices and procedures
• Basic computer skills and the ability to complete required documentation
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Preferred experience includes metal fabrication, machining, welding, railroad manufacturing, or other heavy industrial environments. Experience with CNC machines, mills, lathes, production metrics, scheduling, staffing, workflow management, or continuous improvement is a plus.
