Job summary

A&K Railroad Materials is seeking a working Rail Yard Operations Foreman to lead our yard team in Kansas City. You will operate heavy equipment, assist with maintenance, and help keep materials moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

The role emphasizes hands-on leadership, welding and fabrication tasks, and inventory organization in a rail yard environment. You will work outdoors in all weather, collaborating with a motivated crew to meet daily targets.

Qualifications

• Experience operating heavy equipment such as large forklifts, loaders, backhoes, or skid steers is required.
• Mechanical aptitude with equipment troubleshooting and basic repairs is required.
• Welding and fabrication experience is required.
• Experience in rail, construction, manufacturing, heavy industrial, or similar environments is preferred.
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and reliability is essential.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.

Responsibilities

• Lead yard operations and work alongside the team to keep materials moving safely and on schedule.
• Operate heavy equipment and support equipment maintenance.
• Perform fabrication and welding as needed in the yard.

We're looking for a working Rail Yard Operations Foreman to help lead our yard operations while working alongside the team to keep materials moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

This is more than a supervisory position. You'll operate heavy equipment, support equipment maintenance, perform fabrication and welding, organize inventory, and help maintain a safe, productive rail yard.
