Job summary

Job description

About the role

As a Shift Supervisor at our Thermomechanical Treatment Facility (TTF), you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the plant during your assigned shift. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee the monitoring and performance of boilers, turbines, and steam plant equipment, while actively supervising plant personnel. You will manage the functional activities of the Control Room Operator, Auxiliary Operators, and Crane Operator to ensure quality. Your responsibilities include conducting routine facility inspections, maintaining adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and permitting requirements, and ensuring smooth operations throughout your shift.

Position Responsibilities
  • Review, prioritize and direct the daily work activities of the operations group during their assigned shift.
  • Supervise, monitor, train, and develop plant personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and productive operation of plant and equipment.
  • Enforce the safety procedures and policies for the Operations Department and other support teams.
  • Initiate emergency response procedures as needed to ensure safety and compliance in unexpected situations.
  • Actively oversee facility production and maintenance activities, supporting the planning and execution of both scheduled and unscheduled outages while ensuring the timely completion of operational tasks.
  • Assist in identifying and recommending improvements to enhance plant operations and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with representatives from various departments to address and resolve operational, administrative, organizational, and technical challenges.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must hold or obtain an ASME Provisional License.
  • Must pass a Site-Specific Operator's License within six months of employment.
  • Background in power plant operations is required, including a minimum of five years of hands‑on experience and/or supervisory oversight of power plant machinery.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts as needed to ensure continuous staffing of the facility 24/7, year-round.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of steam-generating power stations, including operation of instrument and control systems.
  • Well-developed troubleshooting skills for equipment and systems, along with expertise in training personnel and interpreting diagrams.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Continuous Emissions Monitoring (CEM) equipment is preferred.
Physical Demands of the Role
  • Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces.
  • Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Consistently work in various weather conditions.
Pay Transparency

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $99,000.00 - $141,500.00 USD per annum.
