Job summary

Sotera Health, including Sterigenics U.S., LLC, is a global provider of mission-critical sterilization and testing services for the healthcare industry. The Shift Supervisor coordinates Operators and Certified Operators during the sterilization process at our Illinois facility, ensuring safe, efficient production and accurate records.

The role requires leadership experience, fluency in English, ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to work established shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 1–1.5 years leading a team or in a sterilization environment preferred.
• Must read, write and speak fluent English.
• Willing to work established shifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

• Direct and coordinate Operators and Certified Operators on shift.
• Follow documentation packets exactly.
• Move palletized product with a forklift.
• Train other shift staff.
• Report discrepancies and process deviations to the Process Supervisor or Operations Manager.
• Report system problems to the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Technician.
• Replace designated mechanical components as required and assist maintenance.
• Ensure GMPs, OSHA and all applicable standards are met.
• Assist with additional tasks as assigned.

Reporting to the Process Supervisor/Operations Manager/General Manager, the Shift Supervisor coordinates and oversees the activities of the Operators and Certified Operators during the sterilization process, operates automatically controlled equipment, and accurately completes records pertaining to the process.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for safely, efficiently and accurately moving product through the sterilization process by directing and coordinating the work performed by the Operators and Certified Operators assigned to the respective shift.
• Follows documentation packet instructions accurately and completely.
• Moves palletized product using a forklift.
• Must be capable of training others assigned to the shift, i.e., Operators and Certified Operators.
• Reports any damaged product, count discrepancies, non-conformances, process or service deviations to the Process Supervisor or Operations Manager.
• Reports system problems to the Maintenance Supervisor or Maintenance Technician
• Knows how to replace designated mechanical components of the system and assists Maintenance as required.
• Stores and removes from storage chemicals used in processing in accordance with established procedures and laws.
• Ensures that product is processed, and employee practices are in compliance with industry GMPs, OSHA and all applicable standards.
• Assists with other tasks as assigned by the Process Supervisor, Operations Manager or General Manager.

Education, Experience, and Skill Required

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) to 1.5 years of experience working in a leadership role and/or sterilization environment preferred.
• Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
• Must be willing to work established shifts.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and perform repetitive bending and lifting motions over a period of time.

Training Required

• Must complete all required training for a “Shift Supervisor” outlined in the training manual.
• General supervisory training.

Benefits/Pay

Pay Rate: $46,000–$72,000 annually, based on experience. Compensation is paid at an hourly rate
