Job summary

Sotera Health is seeking an Operator to coordinate activities on the conveyor, manage loads and unloads, and document throughput with dosimeters. You will work under supervision from the Shift Supervisor and Operations Manager to ensure safe operation of the system and accurate record keeping.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to read a tape measure, and the capability to lift up to 50 pounds. Forklift experience and basic computer skills are preferred assets for this position.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure.
  • Willingness to work established shifts and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Computer skills beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Record input, dosimeter and unload information in the computer.
  • Load and unload product into totes for sterilization and irradiation process.
  • Prepare dosimeters for scheduled work orders and operate the dosimeter reader.
  • Assemble processed dosimeters with run data sheets and related paperwork.
  • Follow emergency procedures and report system problems to supervisors.
  • Assist with maintenance tasks and other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and taking daily direction from a Shift Supervisor, the Operator is responsible for coordinating all activities on the conveyor by organizing the work orders at the load and unload stations. Loads and unloads product, completed the required paperwork and assists the Shift Supervisor/Process Supervisor in the safe operation of the system.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Records input, dosimeter and unload information in the computer.
  • Under the direction of the Shift Supervisor and Operations Manager:
    • Loads and unloads product into totes that are sterilized through an irradiation machine.
    • Prepares dosimeters for work orders scheduled to be run.
    • Operates and takes readings on the dosimeter reader.
    • Assembles processed dosimeters with run data sheet, work orders and load/unload sheets.
  • Familiar with and able to perform emergency procedures required by governing agencies.
  • Reports system problems to the Shift Supervisor or the Maintenance team.
  • Knows how to replace designated mechanical components of the system and may assist Maintenance as needed.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned.
Experience and Skills Required
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals.
  • Must be able to accurately read and use a tape measure.
  • Must be willing to work established shifts.
  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 pounds and perform repetitive bending and lifting motions over a period of time.
  • Forklift driving experience preferred.
  • Computer skills desired.
Training Required
  • Must successfully complete all training and qualification requirements necessary to achieve operator certification.
  • Must remain current on all assigned training, certifications, and qualifications and is responsible for ensuring all requirements are completed by established due dates.
