Job summary

TMS International is seeking a shift supervisor for a metal recovery, scrap handling and recycling facility located on the property of a steel mill. The role involves training and supervising hourly staff, operating heavy equipment, and ensuring safe, efficient processing.

Schedule: 3 days on 3 days off, 12-hour shifts. Pay will be discussed at interview; opportunities for career growth exist across the US and worldwide.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of supervisory experience directing hourly production, maintenance or transportation staff.
• Experience in heavy industrial environments preferred.
• Knowledge of safety programs required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a shift for a metal recovery, scrap handling and metal recycling facility.
• Operate heavy equipment such as front end loaders, dozers, off-road trucks, hydraulic and cable cranes.
• Oversee sorting via conveyors, crushers, screens and other material processing methods.
• Ensure equipment maintenance and safety compliance.
• Be willing to work any shift, including weekends and nights.

You will be trained and responsible for managing a shift for a metal recovery, scrap handling, metal recycling facility located on the property of a steel mill. The equipment used is heavy duty construction type equipment such as front end loaders, dozers, off the road trucks, hydraulic and cable cranes and equipment designed to remove a molten steel byproduct from the furnace for reprocessing into recyclable material or slag which is sold on the open market.

• Processing is done by use of conveyor systems, crushers, screens and other means of sorting material by size and composition.
• The operation is capital intensive, and the equipment must be maintained.
• 3-5 years of supervisory experience directing hourly production, maintenance or transportation employees in a heavy industrial environment is a strong plus (experience may be used in lieu of education requirements).
• Belief and knowledge of safety programs required.
• Must be willing to work any shift including weekends and nights.
