Job summary

Shirley Ryan AbilityLab seeks a Shift Sergeant, Security Will to supervise Public Safety Officers on its campus and patrol the hospital to ensure service expectations are met. You will review incident reports, monitor officer performance, and support investigations into accidents or crimes.

The role requires a high school diploma, 20-hour security training, and a valid driver's license. The 2nd shift runs 3:00pm-11:30pm with potential weekend/holiday duties.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of city and state laws related to public safety.

Responsibilities

• Supervises Public Safety Officers on assigned shift, including preparing shift schedules.
• Patrols hospital, ensuring service expectations are met and initiating corrective action as necessary.
• Reviews Public Safety Officer incident reports for accuracy.
• Monitors work performance of Public Safety Officers and conducts performance reviews.
• Provides support for investigating accidents and suspected crimes, reports findings, and pursues appropriate course of action.
• Assists in the training of Public Safety Officers
• Represents the Security department as a member of Emergency Response Team.
• May direct and control traffic; may issue parking citations in the parking garage.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned in the best interest of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• High school diploma or equivalent education.

• Ability to operate law enforcement equipment required in the performance of required duties
• Working knowledge of a variety of Security Systems related to IT Systems

Working Conditions

• Normal office environment with little or no exposure to dust or extreme temperature.
• Must be able to stand and work for long periods.
• Occasional risks to personnel safety when confronting and restraining individuals
• 2nd shift (3:00pm-11:30pm)
• Subject to work weekends and holidays
