Job summary

CoreCivic is seeking an Assistant Shift Supervisory to support supervision of administrative and operational security activities in a correctional/detention facility. This role will supervise officers on the shift and may act as Shift Supervisor in their absence, directing officers in inmate supervision and rights protection.

Responsibilities include regular inspections of security-related functions, and ability to work any post on any shift.

Qualifications

High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
Three years of experience in a criminal justice field required.
One year of corrections experience including care and custody of inmates required.
One year of supervisory experience preferred.
Additional education in criminal justice or related field may substitute for experience (up to two years).
No substitution for the required corrections experience.
Experience with Microsoft Office or similar software preferred.
A valid driver’s license is required.
Minimum age 21.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise assigned security staff on the shift and evaluate performance.
Demonstrate and guide staff on safety and security practices and post orders.
Interpret, enforce and comply with rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and contract requirements.
Attend meetings to enhance communications between management, staff and inmates/residents.
Assist in streamlining communications and maintaining consistency of operation between shifts.
