Job summary

The Salvation Army North & Central Illinois Division is seeking a Program Assistant On Duty to ensure safety, integrity, and smooth operation of the rehabilitation program during assigned shifts.

Responsibilities include enforcing program standards, supervising beneficiary activity, intake support, medication procedures, bed checks, and incident reporting. This role requires handling emergencies, coordinating transport, and supporting program activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety, security, and order throughout the center during assigned shift.
• Enforce standardized House Rules and ARC Command Program Standards.
• Conduct facility rounds and complete building walk-throughs.
• Respond to emergencies and incidents according to policy; submit incident reports.
• Monitor beneficiary movement, curfew compliance, and approved pass schedules.
• Conduct residence and program orientation for new beneficiaries, including facility tour and review of emergency procedures.
• Lead weekly House Meetings and communicate updates, expectations, and program reminders.
• Address beneficiary questions and concerns and refer individuals to DRS/DRO/Spiritual Counselor as appropriate.
• Assess and document beneficiary spiritual needs and refer to Administrator or Spiritual Counselor when needed.
• Participate as a member of the intake team with ability to complete ARC Program Assessment and Intake Process.
• Oversee medication call procedures, ensuring logging and policy compliance.
• Conduct bed checks at designated times, documenting completion.
• Administer breathalyzer or urinalysis tests as required.
• Supervise beneficiaries assigned to work therapy roles; provide task instruction and monitor completion.
• Provide safe transportation for beneficiaries following TSA guidelines.
• Support leisure-time or recreational program activities as directed.
• Complete accurate daily reports and electronic data entries; document shift events.
• Report and document all policy violations in a timely manner.
• Participate in required trainings and professional development sessions.
