Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Production Supervisor to oversee safe, efficient operations on the shift. You will communicate performance expectations to ensure production targets and metrics are met, and you will mentor team members to achieve performance goals.

In this role you will monitor KPIs, coordinate with other departments, enforce safety and quality standards, and lead continuous improvement initiatives. A Lean background and strong leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of packaging converting supervisory experience.
• Experience in Lean environment; Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification.
• Proven experience in operations, manufacturing, or supply chain.
• Excellent communication and listening skills.
• Proven track record of effective problem-solving.
• Ability to embrace continuous improvement.
• Strong collaboration and teaming skills with stakeholders across functions.
• Ability to coach and train employees.
• Ability to be an on-shift resource for troubleshooting problems in the process as well as maintenance issues.
• Ability to make independent, effective decisions.
• Possess the ability to be a self-directed team player.
• Flexibility to work multiple shifts.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day shift operations with focus on safety, quality, delivery and cost.
• First point of contact for operators on mechanical failure or production issues.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and enforce control procedures.
• Coordinate production activities with other departments to meet goals.
• Monitor production to reduce waste and meet schedules.
• Input production data to measure KPIs.
• Provide safety, environmental and health recommendations.
• Produce daily shift production reports.
• Manage labor and equipment utilization.
• Direct maintenance to troubleshoot and perform preventative maintenance.
• Enforce plant safety regulations and safety culture.
• Ensure personnel follow company standards and meet customer commitments.
