Purpose:
The purpose of the Manager I (MGRI) position is to assist branch management in executing QSR or similar restaurant operations. The MGRI ensures the restaurant is clean, ready for business, staffed, and operates to high standards. The MGRI follows prescribed policies and procedures to make management decisions.
Essential Functions:
- Completes opening, daily, and closing procedures/checklists according to company policies
- Assists the AGM/GM in managing by supervising daily activities of associates within a restaurant or points-of-sale
- Participates in the interview process, provides input on hiring, and recommends employment status changes to the GM
- Assigns work tasks, prepares schedules, and ensures shift coverage
- Ensures associates take mandated rest breaks and meal periods
- Maintains display areas to be clean, stocked, and visually appealing
- Ensures all equipment is in good working order
- Operates cash register, processes transactions, and maintains cash security following HMSHost policies
- Monitors compliance with wellness and safety procedures, reports concerns to the GM
- Performs health and safety activities as specified in the Manager’s Guide
- Places orders, receives goods, and processes invoices
- Maintains current contact information for all associates
Requirements:
- Ability to work varied shifts during operating hours, including opening, busy periods, and closing
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards, including HACCP protocols
Reporting relationships and other information:
- The MGRI position is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act
- Typically reports to the General Manager, Director of Operations, or a Multi-Unit Manager
- Expected to work a varied, rotating schedule covering different days and shifts
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
- At least 2 years of food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience
- At least 6 months of supervisory or lead experience in a restaurant or kitchen
- Ability to understand instructions, policies, and communicate effectively with customers
