Purpose:
The Manager I (MGRI) position supports Branch management in executing restaurant operations, ensuring the restaurant is clean, staffed, and operates to high standards. The MGRI follows policies and procedures to make management decisions.
Essential Functions:
- Complete opening, daily, and closing procedures/checklists according to company policies.
- Assist the AGM/GM in supervising daily activities of associates within the restaurant or points-of-sale.
- Participate in hiring processes, provide input on employee status changes, and recommend promotions or terminations to the GM.
- Assign tasks, help prepare schedules, and ensure all shifts are covered.
- Ensure associates take mandated rest and meal breaks.
- Maintain clean, stocked, and visually appealing display areas.
- Ensure equipment is in good working order.
- Operate cash register, handle transactions following HMSHost policies, and secure cash properly.
- Monitor compliance with wellness and safety procedures, report concerns, and promote safety awareness.
- Perform health and safety activities as outlined in the Manager’s Guide.
- Place orders, receive goods, and process invoices.
- Maintain current contact information for all associates.
Requirements:
- Ability to work flexible shifts during various operating days and hours, including opening, busy periods, and closing.
- Knowledge of applicable sanitary, safety, and health standards, including HACCP protocols.
Reporting and Other Information:
- The MGRI position is classified as Non-Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
- Typically reports to the General Manager, Director of Operations, or a Multi-Unit Manager.
- Expected to work a varied schedule, including different shifts to monitor operations.
Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:
- At least 2 years of food and beverage, cash handling, and customer service experience.
- At least 6 months of supervisory or lead experience in a restaurant or kitchen.
- Ability to read, understand instructions, policies, and communicate effectively with customers.
