The Environmental Services (EVS) Assistant Director is responsible for managing the EVS Operations Managers and overseeing the daily activities of the EVS Department at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. This role involves implementing policies, planning, managing personnel, projects, and ensuring a safe, clean, attractive, and comfortable environment. The Assistant Director ensures compliance with patient care and business standards, maintaining 24/7 operations.

• Manage and supervise EVS Operations Managers and staff, fostering a positive work environment.
• Oversee daily operations, ensure standards are met, and support hospital-wide cleanliness and safety initiatives.
• Develop and manage budgets, collaborate with hospital departments, and implement cost reduction strategies.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and infection control standards.
• Hire, train, evaluate staff, and handle disciplinary actions as needed.
• Participate in hospital committees and maintain knowledge of relevant laws and policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates/Bachelors degree preferred.
• Knowledge of health and regulatory standards.
• Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) or equivalent required within one year of hire.
• 4-6 years of experience in healthcare, hospitality, or institutional management, specifically in EVS or housekeeping.
