Isolatek International is launching a new manufacturing operation focused on the production of FireSolve® fire-protective coating products. Production Operators will play a critical role in establishing safe, efficient, and high-quality manufacturing operations from day one.

The Shift Leader is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations while directly supervising Production Batchers and Production Operators engaged in the manufacture of FireSolve® fire-protective coating products.

This is a working leadership position that requires active participation in production activities while providing direction, coordination, and oversight of day-to-day manufacturing operations. The Shift Leader is accountable for ensuring production activities are completed safely, efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with company quality standards, production schedules, and operating procedures.

The Shift Leader serves as the primary point of contact for shift operations and is responsible for supporting safety, quality, production output, housekeeping, inventory control activities, and employee performance. The role also serves as the backup for Production Operators and Production Batchers during absences or periods of increased production demand.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership & Supervision
  • Provide daily direction, leadership, and support to Production Operators and Production Batchers.
  • Assign work activities and establish daily production priorities.
  • Monitor employee performance and ensure production activities are completed accurately and efficiently.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Participate in employee interviewing and hiring recommendations.
  • Initiate and document corrective action when required.
  • Train, coach, and develop production employees on safe work practices, operating procedures, and production requirements.
  • Ensure production staffing and workload assignments support daily manufacturing requirements.
Production Operations
  • Support the manufacture of FireSolve® fire-protective coating products in accordance with approved procedures and production schedules.
  • Spend approximately 50% of working time performing hands-on production and batching activities as needed.
  • Support material staging, batching, mixing, filling, packaging, and material handling activities.
  • Fill in for Production Operators and Production Batchers during absences, vacations, training events, or workload demands.
  • Monitor production output and manufacturing performance throughout the shift.
  • Coordinate shift activities to meet production schedules and operational goals.
Quality Responsibilities
  • Review batch records, production documentation, and equipment logs for completeness and accuracy.
  • Ensure proper lot number traceability and material verification practices are followed.
  • Verify completion of required production checks and quality documentation.
  • Support quality verification activities and communicate concerns to management.
  • Review and approve production documentation prior to management review.
  • Ensure batches are properly prepared for management approval before release to subsequent production steps.
Safety Leadership
  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Conduct routine safety observations and reinforce safe work practices.
  • Lead daily safety discussions and reinforce safety expectations.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
  • Support incident reporting and corrective action implementation.
  • Ensure compliance with Hazard Communication, Forklift Safety, Lockout/Tagout, Respiratory Protection, Chemical Handling, Spill Response, and Housekeeping requirements.
Inventory & Material Control
  • Support inventory accuracy through material verification and inventory control activities.
  • Verify proper material identification, storage, staging, and usage.
  • Ensure production materials are available and properly prepared to support scheduled manufacturing activities.
  • Monitor raw material consumption and material accountability.
Maintenance Support
  • Assist with preventive maintenance activities as required.
  • Support equipment inspections and basic troubleshooting efforts.
  • Communicate equipment issues and maintenance needs to management.
  • Assist with maintaining production equipment in safe and reliable operating condition.
  • Ensure production areas remain clean, organized, and inspection‑ready.
  • Promote and maintain housekeeping and 5S expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Support implementation of process improvements and best practices.

SCOPE OF POSITION
  • The Shift Leader serves as the primary leader for assigned production operations and is responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant execution of manufacturing activities during the shift.
  • The position directly supervises approximately four production employees and is accountable for daily production performance, quality compliance, safety performance, housekeeping standards, inventory control activities, and employee accountability.
  • Unlike Production Operators and Production Batchers who focus on executing specific manufacturing tasks, the Shift Leader is responsible for ensuring the work of the production team is completed accurately, safely, and in accordance with company expectations. The role is expected to provide leadership, remove obstacles, coordinate daily activities, and step into production roles as necessary to maintain production continuity.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
EXPERIENCE
  • 1-4 years of experience manufacturing experience
  • 1-4 years of experience with forklift experience (certification not required)
KNOWLEDGE
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in a manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial environment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow batch records work instructions, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to safely handle raw materials and operate production equipment
SKILLS
  • Minimum three years of manufacturing, production, or industrial experience.
  • Previous experience leading employees, training team members, or serving in a lead role preferred.
  • Ability to prioritize work and coordinate multiple production activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, management, maintenance, quality, and warehouse personnel.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to work safely around chemicals, industrial equipment, and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to perform basic math related to weighing, measuring, batch additions, and documentation.
  • Ability to read and understand batch records, work instructions, equipment logs, and standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate or become certified to operate a forklift within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to work safely around chemicals, production equipment, forklifts, and industrial processes.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds repeatedly for extended periods during the shift.
  • Ability to climb stairs, platforms, or access equipment areas as needed.
  • Ability to wear required PPE, including respirators for extended periods when required.

The hourly rate is $33.00/hr for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, actual compensation may vary and will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to, the applicant’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other job‑related factors. Isolatek International reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time. An employee may also be eligible for annual discretionary incentive compensation based on company and personal performance.
