Position Overview

The Shift Leader is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the store in partnership with the General Manager or Assistant General Manager. They ensure the team understands goals, expectations, products, cleanliness, directives, and guest connections during their shift.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Demonstrate mastery in performing team member duties with enthusiasm and excellence.
  2. Lead shifts focused on team engagement and guest satisfaction, embodying the value of Make Fun Happen.
  3. Think strategically about maximizing product sales and waste management.
  4. Maintain a “total store vision” by taking ownership of the store’s look and feel.
  5. Be knowledgeable about the day’s deployment, roles, and responsibilities.
  6. Communicate effectively on the floor during shifts.
  7. Proactively address team and guest needs before issues arise.
  8. Understand shift priorities and delegate tasks accordingly.
  9. Take ownership of the current and upcoming shifts.
  10. Ensure SOP and quality standards are consistently met.
  11. Coach and give feedback to Team Members in real-time to ensure their best performance.
  12. Train team members on roles, products, and promotions.
  13. Complete administrative tasks such as bank deposits, inventory, and store orders with integrity.
  14. Develop Team Members and discuss career growth opportunities.

  16. Manage personal impact on others and demonstrate confidence in decision-making as the Manager on Duty.

Skills and Qualifications

Required:

  • At least 1 year of leadership, restaurant, retail, or customer service experience, or proper training and approval by Caribou Coffee as a Shift Leader.
  • Availability to work early mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements

Hearing, speaking, seeing, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 pounds, standing for 4-8 hours, with or without reasonable accommodations.
