GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

These duties will include but are not limited to overseeing and monitoring the documentation of patient behavior, acting as a role model for the patients and residential staff, providing supervision for the patients and residential staff during activities of daily living, ensuring that all residential staff are responsible for patient safety, reinforcing individual treatment plans of each patient and upholding the Moody Neuro policies. In addition, the Shift Leader will ensure treatment plans for each patient and monitor the implementation of individual treatment plans for each client and monitor documentation done by the residential staff to assure that proper evening and weekend communication is maintained. The Shift Leader will uphold the mission, philosophy, purpose, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and client data and information in the performance of assigned duties.

In addition, the Shift Leader will ensure treatment plans for each patient and monitor the implementation of individual treatment plans for each client and monitor documentation done by the residential staff to assure that proper evening and weekend communication is maintained. The Shift Leader will uphold the mission, philosophy, purpose, and goals of the organization while maintaining strict confidentiality of personnel and client data and information in the performance of assigned duties.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and guidance to the weekend, day or overnight residential staff assigned to their shift or team.
  • Assign specific shift duties to residential staff members based on patients' individual needs and programmatic requirements.
  • Assist the Residential Manager in identifying necessary in-services for the residential staff and communicating needs to Residential Manager.
  • Assisting with auditing documentation in EMR for team members and discussing findings with Residential Manager.
  • Assisting with room preparation for new admits/discharged patient’s rooms.
  • Communicating staff concerns and maintaining morale amongst staff members.
  • Completing Infection Control observations and assigning competencies with team members weekly to ensure safety and compliance standards are met.
  • Communicate patient and family concerns to Assistant Residential Manager or Residential Manager.
  • Communicate with kitchen services patient census and number of family members and staff on campus for accurate preparation of meals.
  • Maintain a caseload as needed to ensure adequate patient/staff roles are being maintained.
  • Direct and assist the residential staff and patients during emergency procedures for fire, evacuations, and medical emergencies.
  • Assist the Residential Manager in providing orientation for new patients.
  • Document and report all significant incidents in the reporting tool.
  • Implementation of duties according to the policies and procedure of the Moody Neuro.
  • Maintain contact and ensure the safety of Residential patients residing in the augmented or independent apartment setting.
  • Provide accurate patient data on daily census report.
  • Guide and assist the patients in accordance with their individual treatment plan.
  • Serve as a role model to the residential staff as well as the patients.
  • Fully understand and be able to perform the duties of the Therapeutic Assistant and Medication Passer when necessary due to scheduling conflicts or shortage of residential staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records in charting seizure reports, ADL check lists, significant incident reports, progress notes and medication monitoring sheets.
  • Discharge duties in accordance with Moody Neuro organizational policy, CARF and other accrediting bodies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to organize and instruct residential staff in their performance of tasks
  • Ability to follow through and/or implement the directions of the Director of Clinical Programs, Residential Manager and/or the Treatment Team.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work well with other people.
  • Able to stimulate and motivate persons with problems in motivational.
  • Knowledge of social customs and responsibilities.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility, innovation, and good judgement.
  • Ability to receive and follow instructions accurately.
  • Knowledge of philosophical and ethical considerations in rehabilitation practice.
  • Hold current CPR and First Aid certifications.
  • Ability to communicate accurate and pertinent information through documentations.
  • Ability to execute emergency procedures.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Ability to assist clients with transfers in a wheelchair.
  • Certified in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI).
  • Current/Valid Drivers’ License.

Education:

High School Diploma. Prefer bachelor's in health care or related field. Hold either a Medical Assistant certification or both a Certified Nursing Assistant and Certified Medication Aide licenses in the state of Texas. Current Texas Driver's License. Must hold current CPR and First Aid Certifications - will be provided upon hire if not currently certified. Prevention and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) - will be provided upon hire.

Experience

Minimum of 1 year experience dealing with acquired brain injury or 60 hours of college.

    • Accommodation - adjustment of the lens of the eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This item is especially important when doing near-point work at varying distances from the eye.
    • Color vision - the ability to identify and distinguish colors.
