Job summary

Cheba Hut Toasted Subs is seeking a Shift Leader aged 18+ to supervise the floor, coach the crew, and uphold food quality and safety. You will report to the General Manager and collaborate with the Assistant General Manager to ensure an exceptional customer experience.

You will lead by example, manage workflow, complete the Battle Plan, and respond to busy periods. The role demands physical stamina, strong communication, and a shop-first mindset in a cannabis-themed culture.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a shift or team in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong communication skills and ability to handle difficult conversations.
• Ability to juggle priorities and stay calm under pressure.
• State-required food safety certification (or ability to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Uphold the Big 4: atmosphere, cleanliness, interaction, and product quality.
• Lead, motivate, and coach the crew through recognition and accountability.
• Run a smooth shift: execute the Battle Plan and manage staffing as needed.
• Ensure food safety and prep accuracy, write PARs, and maintain waste logs.
• Keep orders accurate and within Cheba Hut ticket times.
• Meet SPMH and labor targets.
• Maintain consistent leadership and communicate with management.

Cheba Hut Toasted Subs – Shift Leader - MUST BE 18+

About the role

Cheba Hut Shift Leaders run the floor. You’ll supervise the crew during your shifts and set the tone for food quality, food safety, cleanliness, and customer experience, all while coaching your team to be their best. You’ll report to the General Manager and work closely with the Assistant General Manager.

What you’ll do

• Uphold the “Big 4”: atmosphere, cleanliness, interaction, and product quality. Be a thermostat, not a thermometer.
• Lead, motivate, and coach the crew through recognition and accountability, working shoulder to shoulder.
• Run a smooth shift: complete the Battle Plan, get “aces in their places,” and call audibles when it’s busy or short-staffed.
• Keep food safe and fresh: write prep and stock lists to PARs, complete line checks, follow F.I.F.O., and keep the waste log.
• Make sure orders are accurate and meet Cheba Hut ticket times.
• Hit SPMH and labor targets.
• Hold everyone to the same standard, with no favorites and no silent approval, and keep shop leadership in the loop.

What we’re looking for

• Previous shift lead, key holder, or restaurant leadership experience preferred
• A shop-first, customer-first mindset, with integrity and self-direction
• Strong communication skills, including the hard conversations
• Ability to juggle priorities and stay calm under pressure
• State-required food safety certification (or ability to obtain)
• Ability to lift 47 lbs, stand up to 10 hours, and work shifts up to 10 hours
• Comfortable with a cannabis-themed culture
